History and objectives
OCBS-OCAB (Organisme voor de Controle van gewapend BetonStaal - Organisation pour le Contrôle des aciers pour Béton Armé) was established in 1977 by the following founding members:

OCBS-OCAB is the institution that manages the BENOR brand in the concrete steel products sector.

The mission of OCBS-OCAB and the inspection bodies related to its operation is to ensure the conformity with Belgian standards of products authorised to bear the BENOR mark.

The mission of OCBS-OCAB also includes drawing up reciprocal agreements with national institutions abroad.

An agreement with KIWA (Netherlands) was signed on 23.12.1986. It was revised on 30.10.1992.

An agreement with AFCAB (France) was signed on 11.01.1989. It was revised on 25/04/2009.

An agreement with DIBt (Germany) was signed on 12.12.1991.

OCBS-OCAB also ensures the follow-up of the product during the distribution phase up to the moment of delivery to the customer.

OCBS-OCAB adheres to the requirements set by the NBN EN ISO/IEC 17065 standard and coordinates its actions with those carried out by similar bodies within the European Community with a view to establishing the Single Market.
